Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking in the MBA
At emlyon business school, they have taken the learning experience to a new level. We had the opportunity to attend one of the most exciting courses so far in the MBA program : Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking with Prof. Rickie Moore.
We were challenged to create, in a very short time, a board game ‘to teach entrepreneurship concepts’ using design thinking techniques.
In only 2 days, the teams were required to understand the challenge, ideate, design, prototype, test and present their final product to be evaluated using a voting system.
During the first day, we learned how to make prototypes using 3D printing, laser and wood cutting while applying Design Thinking methods.
The teams were asked then to pitch, present and convince other teams to vote for the best game, best pitch, best poster and finally best presentation, which we did, and did it passionately.
I had the pleasure to work with a team with German Mannschaft, Costa Rican Skill, Indian
Power, Venezuelan Persistence and Peruvian Passion. We took this challenge to the end and won 3 awards out of 4: Best Game, Best Poster and Best presentation.
At first glance, as often, you feel like it could be very hard to get to know your team members, their skills, abilities, agree on the objectives, plan, manage the project and execute the tasks in a very squeezed timeframe. But here is the secret, in your journey at emlyon business school, they make sure to craft your soft skills, deepen your knowledge, use latest management tools and techniques, enhance your critical thinking abilities to adapt and work in an agile manner in a very challenging environment while having a lot of fun.
Professors and administrators of the program put an incredible effort to sculpt the personality and character of the “early makers” both at an individual and team level in order to provide the best experience and shape the entrepreneurs of the future.
They put you on a fast track to learn what is required to be an entrepreneur.
This is just the beginning of a journey with a very beautiful cohort and an awesome administration.
Keep it up!
